Welcome to the American Wine Society - Denver Chapter

The American Wine Society is a national non-profit consumer-based organization devoted to educating people on all aspects of wine. Its members are wine novices, experts, grape growers, amateur and professional winemakers, chefs, wine appreciators, wine educators, restaurateurs, and anyone interested in learning more about  wine and gastronomy.
The American Wine Society – Denver sprang from a passion for wine and a desire for wine education. In the spring of 2001, Joe Hubbard gathered a group of people with varied backgrounds in wine knowledge, but a unified desire to expand what knowledge they had, to develop a unique wine appreciation organization. The first Board meeting was held over pizza and Champagne. At that moment we set the direction for the club. The AWS – Denver was going to be a wine appreciation organization focused on education in a social environment. Though the American Wine Society is a national organization, our chapter is a bit different from most. The club is open to anyone with an interest in wine and a desire to learn about it. We focus on education through presentations by wine makers as well as wine educators. We have chosen a seated presentation format, with light food, and tasting of six to seven wines. This format has been very well received allowing us to bring in internationally recognized wine makers and experts. The typical wine tasting, however, is a bit more intimate with about 40-50 attendees. We are proud of what we have accomplished over the years and hope that you will join us for a wine tasting event. If you are looking for a relaxed fun environment to learn about wine, then the AWS – Denver is the place for you. Cheers!
